About
A 1997 "demo reel" VHS tape promoting Softimage's game development environment and tools. The tape features a montage of numerous game titles that utilized Softimage's tools before settling on two short features, one on FIFA 97 and then the other on RIVEN.
The box for the tape prominently features Nintendo titles Mario 64 and Star Fox 64, and focuses on a new "Nintendo 64 GDE" tools that export N64-ready 3D scene data. However, none of this appears to be mentioned within the actual video tape itself.
Notably, Softimage was a Microsoft product at this time, so this marks a time where Microsoft was not yet competing with Nintendo for the home console market.
