About
One of the finest westerns ever made, this "Monumental, sweeping & Powerful" masterpiece features impassioned performances, stunning cinematography & adventure on a grand scale. Few motion pictures in history have so thrillingly captured the breathtaking excitement & sheer majesty of the old west. John Wayne gives "One of the best performances of his career" as Tom Dunson, a cattle baron who built his ranch with hard work & a determination to kill any man who would dare try to take his land. But when plummeting livestock values endanger his beloved ranch, Tom & his adopted son (Montgomery Clift in his screen debut) set out to get a fair piece for their cattle by driving them through the treacherous Chisholm Trail from Texas to Kansas. Battling Indians, stampedes & dissension among the ranch hands, Tom proves that he'll stop at nothing to reach his destination. He'll risk danger, hardship, betrayal . . . & perhaps even his own sanity.
Filmed in the sweeping high planes near Elgin, Arizona with a superb supporting cast that includes Walter Brennan, Harry Carey & Noah Beery Jr., Red River is a hard-hitting action-packed adventure & an unforgettable western classic.
