About
Grouchy English professor Grant Pritchard (Eric Idle) and his sweet wife Claire (Caroline McWilliams) were recently killed in a freak rockslide. But that didn't stop them from returning home! Unfortunately, Mike (Stuart Pankin) and Liz Dooley (Wendy Schaal) are a yuppie couple who have bought their house. Derek (Jay Lambert) is their tween son, and Grandpa Jack (Henderson Forsythe) is Liz's cantankerous dad -- and the only one who can see Grant and Claire.
This variation of "Topper" (that came on the heels of the hit "Beetlejuice," which featured a similar premise) aired on NBC after ALF in the spring of 1989. It started at #26 in the weekly ratings, but by the fourth week, it had slipped to #45, so it was canceled. Two shows were left unaired, but the complete series was played internationally.
These copies are taken from British broadcasts (no idea who originally ripped them, but thanks to them!), and presumably, they're in production order. I reconverted them to crop the dead space off of the sides. The sound's a little tinny and the final episode has some bounces and glitching, but generally, these are excellent transfers despite the fact that they were originally in divx format.
