About
Land of Liberty Part 1 SummaryEarly colonial history and the development of the republic to 1805. A pictorial history of the United States originally prepared for exhibition at the New York World's Fair.
Presents a meeting between Kenneth Pike of the University of Michigan and Pacifico Castro of the Philippines. Pike tries to simulate the situation that occurs when two people do not understand each other's language. This unrehearsed meeting, where each person speaks a language the other has never heard, demonstrates how one can learn a language without the aid of a tator.
