Originally shown on the television program, The nature of things
Explores the great island of Madagascar which has been separated from the continent of Africa for approximately 60 million years, an isolation that has led to the evolution of hundreds of species of plants and animals that are unique. Shows varied climates on the island and a diversity of life forms. Features several species of lemur, both large and small: brown, ruffled, aye-aye, ringtail, Indiri and Propithecus. Most of the forest on the island has been burned off to clear the land for other uses. With this destruction of habitat, the lemurs and other life forms on the island, have been seriously diminished in number
