HENRY MOORE
This moving interview with Henry Moore, the preeminent sculptor of our time, was filmed not long before his death. The camera follows Moore from his studio in the English countryside to an installation of his sculptures in the rolling hills of Scotland and back to his private park. Many of Moore’s works are among the largest bronze castings ever made and several of these are shown in this film. Moore felt his sculpture was best appreciated in a natural setting and for this reason several are filmed outdoors.
In the aerial views of some sculptures the program demonstrates that Moore’s work is not just three dimensional, but that the fourth dimension of time is integral to his sculptures and their universality. The camera catches Moor reflecting on his work and shows Moore with reclining female sculpture which was the dominant theme of his life’s work. The program beautifully and touchingly reveals Moore’s whole organic approach to art.
