Highway Safety Series: Identifying Highway Safety Problems and Solutions
Visit the International Road Federation at http://www.irfnews.org/ - Noncommercial Use Only - Published with Permission - Highway safety improvement program management is introduced as a systematic approach to cost- effective identification and remediation of highway safety problems consisting of six phases: identification of the problems, identification of alternative improvements, evaluation and selection of the alternatives, development and implementation of the program, and evaluation of each safety improvement and the overall safety program. This video section gives guidance for identifying safety problem areas and ranking them and for identifying alternative improvements and demonstrates the calculation of data for comparison.
