Pavement Structure Repair Techniques: Asphalt Chip Seals
This introductory video on planning and managing chip seal repairs presents a 7-step procedure: examining existing pavement, repairing pavement, cleaning surface, applying asphalt, spreading aggregate, rolling aggregate, and removing excess aggregate. The video explains the purpose of a chip seal and shows types of pavement distress for which chip seals are appropriate. Procedures are first outlined and then demonstrated. Equipment is shown for each step, and key points and common problems are highlighted.
