About
After they're fired from their jobs, pretentious executive Gwendolyn Leonard (Sharon Lawrence) and her assistant Terry (Leah Remini) decide to open up their own business. Gwen reluctantly moves in with Terry, who shares a loft with her brother Danny (Mark Feuerstein) above a bar called Clockworks owned by Guy Mann (Jonathan Banks). Frequently seen is Mrs. Francis (Francesca P. Roberts), a civil servant whom Gwen encourages to follow her dream of opening an eggroll shop, and Guy's son Ashley (Mark Davis), who's a female impersonator.
Produced by Kelsey Grammar (who makes two appearances), the show got high ratings when it debuted on NBC's Must-See-TV Thursday, but when it returned for a second season on Monday nights, it tanked -- and to add insult to injury, the network meddled in the writing room. The show was canceled with 5 episodes unaired, but the complete series aired (in the correct production order) a few years later on the USA network.
