About

DVD transfer 54. Another "odds and ends" DVD that I recorded from assorted VHS tapes between February 25 and March 4, 2016. The first six are various children's shows on different Christian networks, followed by a series of miscellaneous recording from December 1994.

CONTENTS

1. Sonshiny Day (TOPIC: Proper Role of Money; this was a 1992-94 Canadian series featuring Audrey Meisner {who co-produced the show alongside husband Bob} and the Meisner's small children Christopher and Janelle. Typical episodes featured a handful of songs sung by Audrey; a memory verse; a "Proverbs for Kids" segment featuring Grandpa Gray and a story. Includes the tail end of an episode of "Davey and Goliath")

2. Superbook ("Snakes and a Donkey" {S2E13}; this was the 2nd and final season of the original anime version {CBN has produced a CGI reboot since 2011}. Includes a snippet of the Seventh Day Adventist-produced series "Janice's Attic")

3. Flying House ("Neighbors" {S1E11}; CBN's other anime series commissioned during the early 1980s. Based on the partial Great Songs of Christmas album commercial, probably originally recorded around November or December 1997)

4. Superbook ("Where, Oh Where" {S2E1}; this episode was missing the title screen and I was uncertain which one it was, thus it was recorded twice from different sources. This episode set up the main story arc for Season 2 {hinted at in the theme song} where Chris Peeper's cousin Uri {short for Uriah; the original Japanese version had Uri as Chris' brother} stays with his family while Uri's father is on his way to an expedition. Then, Superbook falls on a computer and gets programmed in...with Ruffles {the family dog} jumping in and getting sucked into the computer. Eventually, Uri and Chris' toy robot Gizmo get sucked in as well; launching a season-long quest to retrieve Ruffles)

5. Superbook ("Where, O Where" {S2E1}; full episode this time)

6. Quigley's Village (Rainy Day Box)

7. All in Good Taste (partial; featured are recipes for Lemon Chess Pie and Bread & Butter Zucchini)

8. Entertainment Tonight (partial - December 1994; featured stories include a look at the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street and Alvin Greenman, script supervisor on CBS' "Hearts Afire" cameo as Santa, bringing his career full circle, as he played a mall Santa in the 1947 version of "Miracle on 34th Street")

9. Commercial block from "It's a Wonderful Life" (the first broadcast following NBC gaining exclusive rights to the 1946 classic)

10. A Current Affair (partial; featured stories include a dog named Smokey being sentenced to be put down for...chasing a mailman; with intervention by none other than former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger)
