DVD Transfer 202 is another "odds and ends" collection of different items recorded to VHS at some point between 2004 and 2005.
CONTENTS
1. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers ("Dirty Rotten Diapers" {S2E38 - OAD: February 19, 1990}. Recording from Toon Disney {retooled in 2008 as Disney XD}. This episode - with a premise very similar to the 1954 Looney Tunes short "Baby Buggy Bunny" in that it involved a dwarf posing as a baby to aid in robberies - is notable for using the original broadcast lines even though when it aired on Disney Channel {and the DVD - though not the Blu-Ray and Disney+ versions} had some of the lines redubbed due to the fact some of the lines could - in the eyes of the Disney higher-ups - be mistaken for encouraging child abuse)
2. Goof Troop ("Peg O' the Jungle" {S1E61 - OAD: September 30, 1992}. Both Toon Disney recordings are from around late March or early April 2004 due to commercials promoting the theatrical release of "Home On the Range" {Disney's last 2-D animated feature until "The Princess and the Frog" five years later} and the video release of 2003's "The Cat in the Hat")
3. Tiny Toon Adventures ("Gang Busters" {S1E22 - OAD: October 15, 1990}. Nickelodeon recording. Ending accidentally cut off by the broadcast below)
4. Battle for Marriage III/Protect Marriage Rally (this was a rally held around late 2004 recorded off TBN. The purpose was to encourage Christians to register to vote and also to garner support for the Federal Marriage Amendment, a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would officially codify marriage as between 1 man and 1 woman, as well as rallying support for proposed state constitutional amendments supporting the same thing. Hosting the event was First Baptist Church of Springdale {now known as Cross Church} and longtime pastor Ronnie Floyd; with speakers including Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson, his wife - longtime National Day of Prayer chairperson Shirley Dobson and New Life Church founding pastor/National Association of Evangelicals president Ted Haggard {in what is clearly the most poorly aged part of this video given how his career would implode when - just days before Colorado voted on a marriage amendment - the Colorado Springs pastor was paying a male prostitute for sex as well as using crystal meth over the course of three years, leading to Haggard's resignation} along with video clips from Wallbuilders founder David Barton {taken from a tour of the U.S. Capitol}, Prison Fellowship founder - and former White House counsel and Watergate figure - Chuck Colson and a previously recorded clip of Dr. Dobson encouraging Christians to vote)
5. WTKR Your NewsChannel 3 News at 11 (partial; the "Your" branding introduced in 2003 was an attempt by WTKR's flagging newscasts to get noticed after crashing to last place in the late 1990s, with the gimmicky presentation culminating in the station's nadir, as the stunt was dropped in 2007 - which coincided with WTKR's ratings slowly recovering. In this clip - anchored by Tom Randles and Barbara Ciara - the focus on the infamous Killian Documents controversy engulfing CBS News {gist of the issue: On September 8, 2004; CBS' "60 Minutes II" news-magazine aired a story that had the potential to be a bombshell in the 2004 Presidential election between Republican incumbent George W. Bush and Democratic challenger and Massachusetts Senator John Kerry when a story reported by that show's correspondent - and longtime CBS Evening News anchor - Dan Rather alleged he had received documents from Lt. Col. Bill Burkett charging that Bush had gotten preferential treatment in applying to the Texas Air National Guard and that Bush's commander, Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian, had been pressured to make Bush's record look better than it was, with Rather and producer Mary Mapes agreeing to run the story without checking the authenticity; with the documents - which Burkett claimed to have destroyed after sending Mapes the copies {which should have been a massive red flag} - quickly exposed as forgeries {citing things ranging from the type setting looking too much like it was typed on a modern computer instead of a 1970s-era typewriter to a claim that a Col. Walter "Buck" Staudt was running interference to improve Bush's record in 1973 even though all other documents showed he had been honorably discharged in March 1972} despite CBS News digging in their heels. Worse yet, the following week former Ellington Air Force Base secretary Marian Carr Knox - in an interview - stated that while she felt the document represented Lt. Col. Killian's feelings no such memo was actually written {leading to the New York Times using the term "fake but accurate" in its report}; leading to Mapes being fired, Rather stepping down from the CBS Evening News on March 9, 2005 - exactly 24 years after succeeding Walter Cronkite, contributed to 60 Minutes II's cancellation later in 2005 and may have contributed to a large part in Bush winning re-election. The segment ends with a "Your 3 Cents" segment for viewer feedback, with 4 of the 5 people whose responses were read proceeding to blast CBS News and Rather in particular for having a liberal bias in their news reporting {charges long lobbied against the network and anchor; with many of those slamming Rather remembering his 10-minute verbal showdown with Bush's father, then-Vice-President George H.W. Bush, on the January 25, 1988 edition of the CBS Evening News where Rather tried to nail the elder Bush to the wall on what role he had in relation to the Iran-Contra scandal})
5. 1993 NBA Finals (Game 6; Chicago Bulls at Phoenix Suns {ESPN Classic repeat}. That game - played on June 20, 1993 {Father's Day} - would see the Bulls clinch their first three-peat 99-98 after point guard John Paxson hit the game-winning three-pointer with 3.9 seconds left. Recorded on June 21, 2005 based on a SportsCentury clip highlighting the opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame on that date in 1939)
6. Judge Judy (King vs. Olivieri/Ramirez vs. Sengler. Recorded off then-UPN {later CW, now independent} WGNT-TV 27; the plaintiffs won both cases - with the defendants in both cases - especially the latter case - really getting on Judge Judy's nerves})
7. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (partial - Toon Disney recording. Episode uncertain {either "A Chorus Crime" {S3E4} or "They Shoot Dogs, Don't They" {S3E5}; both episodes - the last two in the series - both featured the character of Canina La Fur {voiced by Carol Channing})
