DESCRIPTION FOR VHS BACK COVER
Dion means sacred place, divine nature. It is a place that receives the riches and the blessing of the waters of Mount Olympus, the mount of Gods. During the seventh century, when the Macedonians organised themselves into a state, Dion became the main sanctuary for the official worship of their god, Olympian Zeus. It was here, in the spring of 334 B.C., that Alexander the Great assembled his army and sacrificed to Olympian Zeus, before setting off from Dion on his great campaign through Asia.
