In 1969, Dr. Denton Cooley, a leading heart surgeon, implanted an artificial heart into a patient who died soon after. Three years later, Dr. Cooley became the defendant in a major malpractice case resulting from the operation. The trial is recreated by NOVA with a blend of scientific and legal drama.
