About

Your Healthy Baby is a health education video hosted by actress and mother Phylicia Rashad covering infant and toddler nutrition and wellness from pregnancy through age three. The program opens with prenatal guidance on maternal diet, the risks of smoking and alcohol during pregnancy, weight gain expectations of 25 to 35 pounds, and the importance of regular prenatal checkups. Breastfeeding is covered in detail including proper latch and positioning technique, nipple care, milk storage guidelines, pumping for working mothers, and contraindications including HIV and substance use. Formula feeding is presented as a valid alternative with guidance on three preparation formats and safety rules including temperature, no propping the bottle, and no cow's milk before one year.

The program traces well-baby checkup schedules at one, two, four, six, nine, and twelve months, with an on-screen physician demonstrating assessments. Immunization schedules for hepatitis B, polio, DTP, meningitis, measles, mumps, rubella, and chicken pox are outlined. Teething signs and gum care are covered before moving into a detailed solid food introduction timeline from cereal at four to six months through finger foods at eight months. Toddler nutrition from twelve months through age three covers the switch to whole cow's milk, recommended daily food servings, managing picky eaters and food jags, choking hazard foods, and the role of play and physical activity. The program closes with a summary of warning signs requiring a doctor call and key health principles for parents.
