About
Yoga Zone: Introduction to Yoga is the first entry in the Yoga Zone series, hosted by Alan Finger, with senior instructors Lisa and Michelle and two non-teacher practitioners: Finger's wife Greta, who has practiced yoga for eighteen years, and Howard Meyer, who has practiced for approximately two years. The program opens with seated conscious breathing instruction and moves through potted palm series covering forward bend, twist, and side lean, then cat pose, lunge pose on both sides, plank, Chaturanga, two rounds of cobra pose, child's pose, and downward facing dog.
The standing sequence covers mountain pose, three rounds of sun breath, cow's head pose with a strap on both sides, blown palm side stretches, a standing back arch, standing forward fold, and stalk pose tree balance on both sides. Triangle pose and fan posture follow before the sequence returns to the floor for Dandasana, seated spinal twists, cow's head floor stretches on both sides, and lying leg extension with a strap on both sides. The program closes with an extended corpse pose featuring a body awareness and spaciousness meditation. A Windham Hill Records advertisement for the Yoga Zone Music for Meditation and Music for Yoga Practice collections appears at the opening of the recording.
