About
Colleen Fisher, age 44, and her mother Kelly Nelson, age 72, host this weight training program built around Kelly's story of starting weight training at 53 with no athletic background. Two workout structure options are offered: Option 1 is a full-body routine done two to three times per week, with two to three sets of 8 to 12 reps per exercise; Option 2 splits the week into a day for abs, chest, shoulders, and back, a day for abs, triceps, biceps, legs, and calves, and a circuit day. A 10-minute cardio warm-up is required before either option.
Kelly demonstrates every exercise: floor crunch, lower back erectors with opposite arm and leg, flat dumbbell press, incline fly, one-arm dumbbell row, seated overhead press, standing lateral raise, dual dumbbell row, bent-over lateral raise, tricep kickback, overhead tricep extension, incline dumbbell curl, dumbbell squat, dumbbell lunge, ankle-weight hamstring curl, standing calf raise, and a full stretching cool-down. A nutrition segment features Alan Beckett, nutritionist from Bastyr University in Seattle, who recommends four to five small meals per day, whole natural foods, organic where possible, no refined or processed foods, and a maximum of 10% saturated fat. His Muscle Muffins, co-invented with wife Colleen Beckett, are sold in Bellevue, Washington.
