About
Caroline Myss -- bestselling author of Anatomy of the Spirit and medical intuitive who developed her skills in collaboration with Harvard-trained neurologist Dr. C. Norman Shealy beginning in 1984 -- delivers a live lecture on the relationship between personal power and health. The core argument is that power is not just an abstraction but a literal energy that flows through the body, that its depletion directly causes illness, and that understanding where and how you spend that energy is the first step to healing. Myss frames the body's energy centers in terms she calls data banks rather than chakras, though she acknowledges the chakra and Kabbalah traditions as parallel systems.
The seven data banks are mapped to seven areas of the body: the base (tribal identity, family patterns, group belonging), the hip and lower back (finances, one-to-one power, creativity, control dynamics), the solar plexus (self-esteem, criticism sensitivity), the heart (love, compassion, jealousy, forgiveness), the throat (willpower, choice, how power is released), the third eye (intellect, reasoning, the difference between truth and fact), and the seventh center (described as a grace bank account that connects to the divine). Myss uses the image of 100 circuits of energy entering the body daily to illustrate how over-investment in negative memories, unresolved relationships, or tribal thought forms creates an energetic debt drawn from cell tissue -- the mechanism by which emotional patterns manifest as physical illness. The lecture closes with a near-death experience account from a woman in one of Myss's England workshops: a car accident victim who, in an out-of-body state, observed a stranger's prayer and recorded the stranger's license plate to thank her after recovery.
