About
Hosted by actress Mariette Hartley, this infomercial presents the See Clearly Method, a natural vision improvement program based on eye exercises developed by Cliff Rose of Vision Improvement Technologies. The program was developed in collaboration with Dr. Mark Grossman, Dr. Henry Edinger, Dr. David Muris, Dr. Merrill Allen (recipient of the American Optometric Association's Apollo Award), and Dr. Francis Young. The underlying claim is that many common vision problems including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and eye strain result from weak or unexercised eye muscles, and that a short daily exercise routine can reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses and contacts.
The tape draws a distinction between the extraocular muscles that move the eyeball and the ciliary muscle that controls focus, arguing that both respond to exercise the way body muscles do. Testimonials cover improvement in night vision, astigmatism, color perception, computer eye strain, and elimination of reading glasses. A Sacramento study group is cited. The program is offered as a 30-day trial for $9.95 and comes on VHS, audio cassette, CD-ROM, and in printed manual form.
