About
Tango Followers Technique is an instructional video produced as part of the Bridge to the Tango series, hosted by Rebecca and assisted by Daniel, filmed in Montreal. The tape is addressed specifically to followers in Argentine tango and covers individual technique practiced without a partner, presented in two extended music-based sections and a detailed footwork and body mechanics section.
The first section uses music from Osvaldo Pugliese to introduce four fundamental follower movements, which Rebecca demonstrates alone and then improvises combining all four. The second section uses faster music from Juan D'Arienzo for sharp, staccato movements. Technical instruction covers backward walking mechanics at the barre, parallel foot alignment, closing knees to equal height, heel placement, and the choice between heels-up and heels-down dancing. A partnered section with Daniel demonstrates how the follower's legs yield to the leader's leg placement in cross-system figures. The tape runs approximately 1 hour and 56 minutes.
