About
Sounds: Baby's First Impressions is the Sounds volume in the Baby's First Impressions educational video series produced by Small Fry Productions. The series was voted Best Video of the Year and won over ten national awards including the Family Channel Seal of Approval, with an A rating from Parenting Magazine and coverage from USA Today. Each volume in the series runs approximately 30 minutes and targets infants and toddlers. The Sounds volume opens with a segment tour of sounds found in a home: telephone, hairdryer, can opener, blender, running water, popcorn, cooking, alarm clocks, doorbell, and vacuum cleaner.
An animal sounds segment follows, covering horse, donkey, duck, cow, cat, rooster, goat, dog, puppy, lion, and pig. A big versus small sounds comparison segment uses contrasting pairs: a grandfather clock against a small clock, large trucks against a squeaky ball, a steam train against quiet music, a large river against a quiet stream, and a power drill against a small drill. The program closes with a musical instruments section covering guitar, piano, tambourine, xylophone, saxophone, horn, harmonica, and drums, ending with layered percussion and an invitation for children to go make sounds of their own.
