About

Raquel Welch: Body and Mind is a two-part instructional video hosted by Raquel Welch and structured around yoga-based movement and stress reduction techniques drawn from her personal practice. In the opening segment, Welch describes her history of stage fright, including shaking hands that prevented her from holding an eyebrow pencil before live performances, and credits yoga with allowing her to control anxiety attacks. She conducts an extended interview with a specialist identified as one of the foremost experts in stress control techniques, covering the physiological definition of stress, the chronic cortisol response, the effect of stress on immune function, and research showing that three periods of meditation can more than double certain immune markers.

Part One covers the physical practice, running approximately 57 minutes and moving through a standing warm-up with head rolls and shoulder work, sun salutations, a seated floor sequence, and a sustained relaxation segment, after which Welch invites viewers to stop the tape if they prefer to end there. Part Two, beginning at approximately the 58-minute mark, addresses the mental and emotional dimension, covering breath awareness, progressive tension-and-release techniques targeting the face, jaw, shoulders, hands, and lower back, and visualization exercises. Both parts are accompanied by original music composed for the tape. The program closes with a summary meditation and Welch's direct address on the relationship between physical and mental health.
