About
Precision Toning Pilates is an instructional video hosted by Jennifer Crease, presented under the name "The Method," a Pilates-based fitness approach drawing from classical ballet, Pilates, and yoga with a central emphasis on abdominal strength. Crease introduces the method as requiring focus, intentional breathing, and concentration rather than mindless repetitions or high-impact exercise. The tape runs approximately 68 minutes and is divided into two sequential programs: Toning Essentials, a 15-minute introductory section, and Total Toning, the full conditioning program, each of which can be done independently or combined. The method uses a neutral spine, diaphragmatic breathing, and navel-to-spine engagement as its primary principles.
Toning Essentials covers the foundational stance, rib cage breathing mechanics, supine leg lowering to establish the working angle, a pre-roll-up exercise, single leg stretch, and an inner thigh and abdominal series before closing. Total Toning begins from the mat and progresses through the full roll up, rolling like a ball, single leg stretch, double leg pull, the saw, spine stretch forward, open leg rocker, corkscrew, neck pull, spine twist, and the side series covering pendulum, bicycle, ronde jambe, inner thigh, and the hot potato. The program closes with the teaser, the seal, and a standing finale in which participants observe their own improved posture in a mirror.
