About

Mari Windsor's Accelerated Pilates Workout is an intermediate-to-advanced mat Pilates program hosted by Mari Windsor, a Los Angeles-based Pilates instructor. The program is designed for practitioners who already have some Pilates foundation, as Windsor notes that some exercises will become easier as core strength builds. The program's central concept is the powerhouse, Windsor's term for the deep abdominal, lower back, hip, and pelvic floor muscles, and virtually every exercise is cued back to control from the powerhouse throughout.

The workout opens with breathing and imprinting the spine into the mat, followed by the hundred with leg variations. The sequence then moves through the roll-up, single leg circles, rolling like a ball, single and double leg stretches, the criss-cross, the spine stretch forward, the rocker, the corkscrew, the saw, the swan, single and double leg kicks, the neck pull, the scissors, the bicycle, the shoulder bridge, the spine twist, the jackknife, the side kick series (front and back, circles, inner thigh lifts), the teaser, the hip circles, the swimming, the leg pull front and back, the kneeling side kick, the side bend, the boomerang, the seal, and the push-up sequence closing the mat workout. A short standing balance sequence follows. Windsor provides alignment coaching throughout, emphasizing neck length, shoulder depression, and precision of movement over speed. The tape runs approximately 55 minutes.
