About
Pagan Invasion Volume 1: Halloween, Trick or Treat is the first installment of a 13-part Christian documentary series examining the New Age movement and neo-pagan revival, hosted by Chuck Smith and Caryl Matrisciana. The program opens with a series promo directing viewers to Christian bookstores or the toll-free number 1-800-828-2290, followed by a brief title gap before the hosts appear. The program argues that Halloween is not a secular holiday but an active pagan festival with direct historical and spiritual connections to Druidism, Wicca, and Satanism, and that its celebration by mainstream culture and public schools normalizes occult practice.
The program covers the commercial scale of Halloween including billion-dollar department store sales of Halloween paraphernalia and the role of pumpkin farming, horror films, and video rental in the holiday's promotion. A segment on horror cinema argues that major studios hire practicing witches and Satanists as technical advisors to ensure authentically performed rituals. Glenn Hobbs, identified as a generational Satanist initiated as a child by his grandfather, gives an extended eyewitness account of alleged Halloween rituals including a human sacrifice on a stone altar. The historical section covers the Celtic festival of Samhain and its druidic origins, with interviews with practicing Druids filmed at Primrose Hill in London, where the Druid Order was inaugurated in 1717. Wiccan and neo-pagan practitioners are interviewed, including a witch who describes a million practitioners in England alone. The relationship between Halloween and the Christian feast of All Saints Day is addressed, with the program arguing that the original May feast was moved to November by the Roman Catholic Church. Later segments address reported ritual abuse, infant sacrifice claimed by former participants, a former covener named Carol who describes witnessing the use of a baby at an altar, and crime statistics connecting the occult to Halloween. The program presents law enforcement figures discussing occult-related crimes reaching epidemic proportions. Closing segments address the role of trick-or-treating and jack-o'-lanterns in historical pagan superstition. The tape runs approximately 46 minutes.
