This tape is an unedited off-air recording of the Third Annual World's Greatest Magic, a two-hour Fox prime-time special hosted by John Ritter with guest star Rita Rudner, captured in October 1998. The special presents international stage and close-up magicians performing before a live audience, interspersed with at-home magic instruction segments hosted by Mac King at the Mac King's School of Magic. Featured performers include Dutch illusionists Hans Klok and Sita, French close-up specialist Jean Pierre Vallarino, Canadian stage magician Greg Frewen performing in Nassau, Bahamas, and Las Vegas headliner Steve Wyrick, who performs what is billed as the world's largest stage illusion. Siegfried and Roy are discussed as pioneers who launched the era of large-scale animal illusion acts.

Commercial breaks are dominated by Fox Family Channel programming promotions, which identify October as the 13 Days of Halloween, with a dense slate of Halloween specials, horror films, and themed marathons.
