About
Massage for Health is an instructional Swedish massage video hosted by James Harland alongside massage expert Mirka Naster, with additional demonstration partners including Adriano Serafimi. The program is divided into six body sections designed to be learned progressively, one section per viewing: back, legs, torso and abdomen, arms and hands, and head. Basic strokes taught include effleurage (long gliding strokes used to apply oil and warm muscles), thumb stroke along the shoulders, friction circles alongside the spine, kneading, petrissage, and tapotement (percussion). A breathing and body awareness opening sequence precedes the massage instruction.
The back section covers effleurage, thumb strokes along the shoulder base, friction circles alongside the spine, and upper back integration. The leg section covers the back of the legs and feet, including rotation, ankle work, and front leg effleurage and thumb strips. The torso and abdomen section addresses areas where partners feel most vulnerable. The arms and hands section addresses contact and stress release through the extremities. The head section covers neck stretches, lateral head movement, occipital ridge work, and the neck and skull base. The program closes with a sponsor segment for Soothing Touch Massage Oils from Sunshine.
