About
Kathy Smith's Instant Workout is a three-segment exercise video structured around three independent 20-minute sessions designed to be used separately or together: toning, aerobic conditioning, and stretching. Smith opens by recommending participants note VCR counter positions at the start of each segment for easy navigation. The toning session leads with a warm-up of side steps, leg lifts, and marching, then moves into plié sequences with heel raises, inner-thigh focus work, standing outer-hip leg series, and upper-body tricep and shoulder exercises. Participant Nancy demonstrates lower-intensity modifications throughout.
The aerobic session uses a continuous format with step touches, knee lifts, grapevines, mambo patterns, and a running-man sequence before a cool-down. The stretching session covers neck rolls, shoulder stretches, side bends, seated hamstring and inner-thigh stretches, spinal twists, and a prone backbend, closing with a guided relaxation breath sequence. Smith closes by encouraging viewers to treat even a single 20-minute session as a complete and worthwhile workout.
