About
Celtic Feet is an Irish dance instructional video presented by Colin Dunne, produced by Wiener World. Dunne opens with a brief autobiographical introduction and a performance demonstration by the Celtic Feet Dance Company before breaking down the first routine: a basic reel in soft shoe, danced in 4/4 time. Instruction covers the foundational principles of Irish dance posture, including arms held loosely at the sides, upper body relaxed, and feet turned out with heels facing inward. Each step is taught slowly with cuing, then demonstrated to live music played by a flute accompanist named Alan.
The reel routine is built from three sequential steps, each introduced separately and then combined. Instruction then moves to hard shoe jig material, covering shuffle hop steps, front click movements described as similar to a scissor kick, stamp and toe combinations, and double hop backs. The program closes with a combined performance piece called Celtic Moves, in which the female dancers perform a slip jig and the male dancers perform a double jig simultaneously on stage together.
