About

Guitar Method in the Style of More Metallica is an instructional guitar video presented by Kurt Mitchell, produced by MVP Home Entertainment as part of the In the Style Of series. The tape opens with a promotional segment advertising other titles in the series, covering styles of Metallica, Pantera, KISS, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, and 80s metal, as well as the Fretboard Physics six-volume training course.

The instruction begins with Mitchell tuning the guitar a half-step down with drop D on the low string, explaining the relationship between string gauge, tension, and floating tremolo stability. He references a Trem Setter device for keeping the tremolo returning to position, and describes the mid-scooped Marshall tone Hetfield achieves by cutting 600Hz through the board, citing Master of Puppets as the best example of the sound. The program works through approximately 40 numbered riffs derived from Metallica songs including pieces in drop D, standard tuning, and whole-step-down tuning, with brief explanations of right-hand technique, picking tightness relative to different production eras, slide technique using a corset-stay bottle slide, wah-wah pedal application, Boss octaver use, digital delay, chorus effects, and a clean Parker guitar for neck-pickup clean riffs. Commentary distinguishes the tighter picking of the Metallica self-titled black album era from the looser feel of the Bob Rock-produced material. A closing product segment promotes additional In the Style Of titles.
