About
Gazelle Freestyle Workout is an exercise video for the Gazelle Evolution gliding machine, hosted by Tony Little under the title In Shape for Life. The program is structured for three fitness levels: a 15-minute beginner workout done every other day, a 30-minute intermediate workout, and a 45-minute advanced workout. Little hosts solo for the majority of the program, exercising on the Gazelle Evolution while addressing the camera directly with motivational commentary and exercise instruction.
The main workout section covers the Gazelle's primary movements: a basic glide as the foundational motion, a wide glide with extended range, a low glide, a power glide with elevated arms for greater intensity, and lateral movement. Little coaches form and pacing throughout, instructing beginners to check heart rate and cool down to below 120 beats per minute before dismounting, and intermediate and advanced participants to follow the same cool-down protocol at the end of their respective segments. The program uses music throughout with the stated principle that movement should follow the music's rhythm. A mid-workout heart rate check and a 3-to-5 minute cool down are demonstrated.
The program then moves to a second workout section structured with timed per-exercise intervals: 30 seconds for beginners, 60 seconds for intermediate, and 90 seconds for advanced. This section introduces additional movements including a pushing and pulling motion engaging the back and legs, a hurdler sprint technique, and an alternate butt squeeze exercise. An exercise assistant named Donna, identified as a member of Lifestyles Fitness Center in Seminole, Florida, joins the program for a technique demonstration section covering proper footwear and apparel, heart rate monitor use, basic glide and power glide form, a shorter movement for beginners, the pulling motion, and on-machine stretches for the calf, hamstring, upper back, inner thigh, and outer hip. A target heart rate zone chart for age-based training ranges is displayed near the end of the program.
