About
Fitness Forever is a comprehensive strength and aerobic workout video from The Firm's Cross-Trainer Series, led by instructor Heidi Tanner. The tape opens with a promotional segment for The Firm video series, citing a New York Times endorsement and listing available titles including Total Body Shaping Mix, Super Sculpting, Cardio Split, Super Cardio, and the Firm Parts 4-Pack. The workout begins with a cardio warm-up incorporating marching, kicks, squats, box steps, and shoulder movements, followed by a full-body flexibility stretch sequence using a 14-inch box including calf stretches, hip flexor runners' lunges, hamstring stretches, lat stretches, seated hip rotator stretches, and pelvic floor contractions.
The strength program uses a tall box, a short box, a two-by-four board, dumbbells of multiple weights, a barbell or heavy dumbbells, and ankle weights. Exercises include push-ups in declined and dumbbell-supported variations, full squats and step squats, box step-ups with squats and knee lifts, alternating lunges with barbell and bodyweight, tall box unilateral leg presses working each glute independently, military shoulder presses, lat rows, bicep curls in multiple tempos, tricep French press and bench dips with elevated feet, bridge work with single-leg box elevation and weighted hip lifts, pec flies, and seated and standing deltoid raises for medial and posterior heads. An abdominal section uses an 8-inch box and covers lower body crunches, oblique threading, single and double leg extensions, crossover lifts, and pulse holds. A box aerobics section includes hip thrusts, calf pumps, box travel patterns, rock steps, and pivot sequences with punch arm variations. The cool-down includes a lying hamstring and inner thigh stretch series using a towel, hip rotator stretches, quadriceps stretches, adductor work, prone back extensions, and standing tricep and lateral stretches.
