About
A beginner's Tai Chi instructional video hosted by David Carradine, featuring Sifu Kam Yuen, described as a master of both martial and healing arts and Carradine's teacher for fourteen years. The program opens with a demonstration of chi involving brick-breaking before introducing the tape's four-section structure. A companion Kung Fu Workout tape is promoted in the closing segment.
Section one covers basic stances, postures, and footwork, beginning at 03:48 with the horse stance, right and left forward stance, cat stance, heel stance, and cross stance in sequence. Section two, Chi Kung, begins at 11:47 and covers breathing coordination, relaxation, and stretching exercises to build internal energy flow. Section three, individual moves, begins at 22:52 and isolates each Tai Chi movement for repeated practice, with Sifu Kam Yuen demonstrating beginning at 40:51. Section four, the complete form, begins at 46:19 with Sifu performing the full uninterrupted sequence, followed at 47:16 by a second performance from a different camera angle.
The closing segment promotes the companion Kung Fu Workout tape, described as divided into five sections based on the five animals of northern China: stretching, stance training, kicks, combination exercises, and the spiritual aspects of Kung Fu.
