2001 VHS • Darrin's Dance Grooves 60 FPS

About

A hip hop dance instructional video featuring choreographer Darrin Henson, produced by Jordanite Video. Henson is identified as the creative director for Britney Spears' North American Tour and a choreographer for NSYNC's World Tour, as well as for Michael Jackson, Prince, Enrique Iglesias, and Jennifer Lopez. The program is filmed at a group seminar with hundreds of participants and opens with a biographical profile and interview segment. A warm-up section covers basic isolations and foundational movement principles before instruction begins.

The program teaches five routines in sequence. The first is the choreography from Britney Spears' You Drive Me Crazy video, broken into individual counts and run through at speed. The second is the Bye Bye Bye routine by NSYNC, which includes a syncopated arm pattern and a full group performance. A third routine covers the Give It to You video by Jordan Knight. A fourth teaches the Digital Get Down routine, described as quick and intense with robotic styling. The fifth is an original popping and locking routine composed by Henson specifically for the tape.

The popping and locking section includes a standalone tutorial covering street-style popping with chest isolations and chain-reaction stiffening, followed by the locking section with rolling and hitting patterns. The tape closes with Henson directing viewers to DarrinsDanceGrooves.com for seminars and merchandise.
