About

Brush Stroke Basics is a decorative painting instruction video running approximately 24 minutes and 49 seconds, hosted by Donna Dewberry, introducing her One Stroke technique. The program uses Folk Art acrylic paint and a set of three One Stroke brushes: a three-quarter inch flat, a number 12 flat with long bristles, and a number two script liner.

Dewberry covers palette loading using Wicker White and Green Forest as primary demonstration colors, emphasizing thick creamy paint application and working from a quarter-nickel to quarter-dollar sized pool. Brush loading technique is demonstrated in detail: picking up one color on each corner of the flat brush, then pressing and sweeping back and forth until bristles are packed full near the ferrule.

Strokes taught progress from basic flat brush pulls to directional chisel-edge strokes, with Dewberry encouraging replay of difficult segments. The script liner is covered for detail work, curling lines, and curlicues. Three beginner stroke guides are referenced as companion materials.
