About
A comprehensive computer training video series produced by Silicon Mountain Training, running approximately five hours and seventeen minutes across two parts on one tape. Part one covers Microsoft Windows 3.1, addressing its role as an operating shell running atop MS-DOS, its graphical user interface, multitasking capabilities, object linking and embedding, memory management including virtual memory and 32-bit disk access, File Manager operations, and Program Manager organization. The program also covers SmartDrive disk caching, password protection, and Print Manager.
Part two transitions to Windows 95, covering its revised interface centered on the Start menu and desktop shortcuts, backward compatibility with MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 applications, preemptive multitasking, Plug and Play hardware detection, and the installation process including preservation of the previous operating system. A third segment covers Microsoft Office 95, including Word for Windows, spreadsheet and word processor object linking, and Microsoft Exchange for fax and electronic messaging. The series closes by directing viewers to contact Silicon Mountain Training for additional titles and support.
