About

"The town of Churchill, Manitoba in Canada has the unusual distinction of being built directly in the middle of a polar bear migration route. As a result, every year, the town becomes the center of a remarkable encounter between wildlife and people. The bears, on their way towards the sea ice, converge on Chirchill to await the freeze-up on Hudson Bay. The ice forms here earlier than anywhere else, and polar bears know it. Arriving in mid-October and remaining until they are able to move out onto the ice, the bears are usually in the area for about six weeks, dangerously close to the locals and to the tourists who have come from around the world just to see them"--Container.
