About
Deals with the struggle of Fred Young, a Navaho Indian, to move from the poverty of his childhood to his present position as a laser fusion researcher. Shows that for Fred and others like him survival means accommodation to an alien culture and the loss of native identity. Also deals with the lives of his relatives who have not been able to bridge the two cultures.
