For The Love Of Static In (V)HS

About

Scrambled up some home VHS tapes from the 1990s with a salad of Beyoncé and Eurythmics and The Mountain Goats and lots of other shit, and this came out.

Some of the VHS source footage is from an awkward middle school comedy show I performed in, and some is from artsy high school videos my friend Osha and his friends made. I used my cell phone to record the TV screen as the tapes played.

These are the audio sources, in order of first appearance:

Part I ("I Really Believe"):

1. Pink Floyd - "The Happiest Days of Our Lives"

2. A girl talking at a bar (I didn't know her)

3. Leona Lewis - "Bleeding Love" (written by Jesse McCartney)

4. Ruji - a recording of myself cluelessly pressing things on my brother's keyboard

5. Beyoncé - "Why Don't You Love Me?"

6. Mariah Carey - "Touch My Body"

7. 2pac - "Changes"

8. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - "Scattered Pearls"

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
