About
Cinematic study of summer days of picking, harvesting, and assembling a strawberry harvest on the Japanese-American-owned Koura farm with long attention to the work and workers toiling in the fields and with peripheral attention to the activities of children and visitors and the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape. One highlight of this reel is a long section that is double exposed, introducing an element of visual poetry to the document.
Includes images of Indigenous people from Canada and Washington state who came each year as seasonal workers for the berry harvest, as well as possibly workers of Filipino heritage and other ethnicities.
