About

Content warnings: The file appended _001 contains images of the aftermath of a violent vehicle collision and possibly injured persons. The file appended _002 contains an inclusion of Castle News footage covering an exchange of attacks between Japanese forces and American forces in World War II with racist language and bombing footage.

The black and white sequences of this reel are appended _001, while the color sequences are scanned to a separate file appended _002.

The black and white reel was created in the 1920s and shows a family in real estate embracing the natural beauty of San Francisco Bay, playing on its hills with the Bay in the background, and celebrating new homes and offices in East Bay cities. The family also engages in subsistence fishing in the Bay with historically significant documentation of fish stocks as they were in the 1920s as well as the East Bay landscape as it appeared with little development.

The color file was created in the 1930s and early 1940s, showing the family at home and at work in the East Bay, as well as fishing in the Bay and boating in the Delta and includes the newsreel sequence mentioned in the content advisory which is in black and white.

Human-made No record of this work says a model made it. What this means.
