About
A television talk and musical performance show hosted by blind musician Glen Hurlburt and his wife Dorothy, with a guest appearance by the percussionist "Picante," who demonstrates various Latin American instruments and rhythms to be identified by Hurlburt. The show begins with an illustrated/animated children's story narrated by Glen Hurlburt with live piano accompaniment. A Veterans Affairs public service announcement precedes the program, and the hosts and guest extensively promote the program's sponsor Girard's French Dressing throughout.
"American pianist, composer, and disc jockey (born 1910 in Portland, OR – died April 20, 1961 in San Francisco, CA) As the result of an accident at age 7, Hurlburt lost first one eye and went totally blind by age 15. This did not stop him from a career as a pianist, arranger, band leader, and radio personality in San Francisco and New York. As a composer, he is best known for "Cable Car Concerto" and "Rhapsody Of Fisherman's Wharf" (both 1947)." https://www.discogs.com/artist/1399299-Glen-Hurlburt (accessed 2/6/2024)
