About
A collection of California and railroad-centric film footage. This roll consists of materials made by Bert Gould when he copied the original nitrate film to 16mm safety stock, intercut with more recent color footage of redwood forests.
This film contains outtakes from a film described by Bert Gould as follows: "Golden Spike ceremony and celebration for the completion of the Northwestern Pacific Rail Road, October 23-25, 1914. Film begins a short way north of its starting point in Willits (Northern California) and continues over trestles and through tunnels until it reaches the point of celebration at Cain Rock. (The celebration includes San Francisco Mayor James Rolph and the Eureka Mayor and other officials. The next day festivities in Arcata,C alifornia and Eureka, California are reported.")
