About
This video was produced over a three week period by high school students, ages 15-18 in Livingston, Guatemala. They began the project by conducting a survey in their high school about the biggest problems facing young people in their community. Approximately 90% of the students named alcoholism and drug abuse. The video team decided to create a story that dealt with these problems, as well as other issues that were raised in the survey, such as teen pregnancy and the failure to finish school. El Escape is a dramatic story based on actual events. It resembles a soap opera or "telenovela," which is a very popular form of television show in Latin America.
