About
Green hydra (Hydra viridissima) under a microscope, filmed with a 4x objective in darkfield illumination. The specimen was collected from an old quarry near Rakvere, Estonia. The video shows the body column and the tentacles surrounding the mouth, which the animal moves slowly. The green colour of the hydra comes from symbiotic algae living in its cells.
