U.S. Army Soldiers and civilian medical personnel assigned to U.S. Army Medical Department Activity-Bavaria (MEDDAC-Bavaria) conduct a mass casualty (MASCAL) training exercise at the Vilseck Health Clinic, Vilseck, Germany, Sept. 17, 2026. The exercise tested the clinic's ability to rapidly assess, triage, treat and coordinate the care of multiple patients during a large-scale emergency scenario. MASCAL training enhances medical readiness by refining emergency response procedures, improving communication and coordination among medical teams, and strengthening the ability to provide timely lifesaving care under high-pressure conditions. Regular training events ensure medical professionals remain prepared to support operational forces and sustain combat effectiveness, directly contributing to Army readiness and lethality across the European theater.
