About

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were one of the best pairings of comedians that ever existed. I have been collecting their films for over 50 years now. This film was their first "Talking Picture". They had previously been making silent films together for about two years and they include some of the funniest moments on film ever. Since 1929 is the beginning of "The Boys" sound careers and also just went into Public Domain I'm going to start scanning some of their best older comedies and hopefully introduce some of you to an amazing comedy team. Now that said, this isn't one of their best comedies, it's only a landmark in being the first one with sound. Incidentally, it was also released ass a silent film and I'll be sharing that version as well soon.

The audio for this film was originally stored on a phonograph record and was synced by a projectionist in the booth. The discs for this film were lost until I think the late 70's and this soundtrack is a little scratchy but in the true nature of film, it just feels right.

Enjoy this classic film, a mere 97 years old.

The film was scanned with The Gugusse Compact. This is a DIY film scanner project that was built using a 3D Printer.
