About
Image Description: wearing a white shirt and hat, a person is walking around the left side of a rough rock wall made from rounded river cobbles and flat reddish slabs of rock. In the distance, towering canyon cliffs.
Day Three: Leave What You Find
Leave what you find when hiking in the park That includes artifacts, flowers, or any landmark Pick up the rocks but do not take them home Grand Canyon’s geology was not meant to roam Stay outside of ancient and historic structures They are the result of someones’ long ago labors Leave them intact for others to find They will amaze, captivate, even blow your mind Let artifacts lay wherever you find them Arrowheads, pot shards, they are all hidden gems What good will they do if not left in place? That is why we follow the principles of Leave No Trace
Do not build benches, chairs, and the like Leave campsites as pristine as you can on your hike No one else wants to know you were ever there Let it be as it was – leave nothing for rangers to repair
If you follow this advice and leave what you find You’ll leave all of those beautiful discoveries behind Someone else will have a chance to discover them once more And Grand Canyon will remain an awesome place to explore
