About
In the ocean, plastic waste generates billions of particles through fragmentation: microplastics. These can be ingested by animals. The physiological impact of this ingestion has, until now, been little studied. Microplastics have been found in the stomach and on the gills of fish, but also inside other marine organisms. Ifremer is seeking to better understand the impact of this ingestion on the feeding, reproduction and growth of marine organisms.
