About
In this conversation with Uday Raj Aaley, the late Gyani Maiya Sen-Kusunda (1937–2020), a community elder from Kulmor, Dang district, Nepal, shares the nomadic part of her life in the forest in her native language, Kusunda (known to the community as "Gejmehac Gipan", literally, the "forest king's language"). Her community left the nomadic life and settled in villages around the district. Recorded by Subhashish Panigrahi in 2018 for the production of his 2019 documentary film, Gyani Maiya. This video was taken from the unused/less used film footage, edited, and published under the Gejmehac Gipan project in 2024. Kusunda and Nepali subtitles are by Aaley, and English translations are by Panigrahi.
