About
The Last Edition, with English intertitles.
2013 2K restoration by the EYE Film Institute Netherlands and the San Francisco Silent Film Festival. The restoration is based on the only known surviving copy of the film, a tinted and toned 35 mm nitrate print with Dutch intertitles, preserved at the EYE Film Institute Netherlands. The opening title card was not present in the Dutch print and is taken from a 35 mm print of the trailer, from the U.S. Library of Congress. Intertitles are reconstructed, with typography based on other works by Emory Johnson and numbering and distributor initials based on the Dutch print. Color was restored with Desmetcolor, with the Dutch print used as a reference.
